Notes
For Collette. You still out there? Do you even remember that wild evening at the Razoo? I'm surprised I did, as juiced up as I was. Perhaps the only reason I recollect anything was that I had the song written before the plane touched down on the way home...

"Come to where the flavor is. Filed under pop vocal you'll find Random Maxx. Their infectious arsenal of wit, grit, melody, and heart renders one a willing captive. What stands tall is a dazzlingly individual brand of power pop, something they make look so easy... where many bands of the idiom fall so short. The honesty and heart revealed here is a cure." -Producer Mike Hoffman

Pop has had a much-maligned connotation as of late. Cookie-cutter singers rise and fall; bands are quickly forgotten or sink beneath the musical landscape. So why bother with pop? Random Maxx finally gives us a reason. Drawing inspiration from all possible sources, Random Maxx delivers seven tracks ranging from the purest of tuneful pop ("Looks Good On You," "Ingredients") to arena-type rock ("The Longest Road") to more complex arrangements ("Irony"). Add a quaint little Caribbean-flavored number ("Carey") and you end up with "Senseless Beauty," an E.P. which showcases the band's diversity, without sacrificing any accessibility.

Blog: Homegrown Sounds - Summerfest Day 10: Random Maxx
The Random Maxx Web site describes the group as a "vocal power pop" band. Maxx played at (Summerfest) 2:30 p.m. at the Miller Lite Oasis, and I was extremely impressed by the five Brew City musicians.
