Blog: Homegrown Sounds - Summerfest Day 10: Random Maxx
The Random Maxx Web site describes the group as a "vocal power pop" band. Maxx played at (Summerfest) 2:30 p.m. at the Miller Lite Oasis, and I was extremely impressed by the five Brew City musicians.
Summerfest picks: Molly Snyder Edler
I was so impressed with Random Maxx's performance in the Skylight Opera's 'Hedwig & the Angry Inch' last year that we can't miss these local rockers. They play at noon at the Miller Lite Oasis.

Subversive "Hedwig" shares the love
The Chamber Theatre's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" is one of this year's finest performances, thanks to David Colbert's incredible performance as the sexually ambiguous Hedwig.
Hedwig's Other Half
The Chamber Theatre's unlikely choice of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's Off Broadway rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch as their season opener may not seem like everyone's cup of tea. But director Gareth Handee and a superlative staff go the last mile to bring zest, mirth and a classy composure to this wickedly bawdy, outrageously funny showpiece.

Bonus Discs keep Random Maxx on Fans' Radar
It's a problem that most bands have, even the world's most famous. How do you make sure people keep you in mind, even between projects? For Random Maxx, one of Milwaukee's most popular local original bands, the answer is the "Bonus CD."
Band's Success No Fluke
If you listen to their new CD, "Rock Star Parking," it is the joy of playing together that is most apparent. Their brand of four-part harmonies and tight, fun pop is also gaining the attention of more than just their loyal fans.
Spotlight: Not a Random Mix
There are some scorching '70s guitar licks on the debut CD by Milwaukee's Random Maxx, but as drummer Jim Schweitzer heartily admits, "Loud is not a word that springs to mind with this band. Nobody holds their ears and runs from the room when we play. We're melodically and lyrically oriented."
